Explore. Discover. Educate.
There is so much to see and do at the Hobe Sound Nature Center! Visit us to learn about and experience wildlife up-close, engage with interactive exhibits in our museum, take a stroll down our nature trails, and/or dip your toes in the Indian River Lagoon along our sugar sand beach!
Animal Ambassadors and Wildlife on the Preserve
The Hobe Sound Nature Center is home to several, non-releasable native animals. Baby alligators, opossums, snakes, bugs, birds of prey, and amphibians are showcased in our educational programs both on and off-site. Beyond the walls of the nature center, guests can walk the expansive trail network that meanders through the scrub to the intracoastal, where you may discover a shy gopher tortoise or spot an osprey. Come discover one of South Florida’s most ancient habitats and nurture what’s native at the Nathaniel P. Reed Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge.
Celebrations and Events at the Nature Center
We love celebrating nature with our neighbors and visitors! Our community outreach programs vary from a spring lecture series, to live animal programs at local libraries, to on-site events to celebrate Earth Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and the joy of fishing (Hook Kids on Fishing Clinic in collaboration with Anglers for Conservation). Visit our events page regularly for updates and to learn more!
